Amazon Disgusts Me

It's been a while. I've been doing a little of this.

But my Amazon learnings email is back.

1) Amazon shopper report by Remazing. All age groups shop mobile. A quarter saved for deal events. A third look at page one to the end. 32% on page two. 36% page three. Note: written in German, WhatsApp me and I'll share if I get the English copy.

2) 20k Amazon content examples. Somewhat accidentally we've built the biggest archive to help designers and brand owners create better infographics, A+, lifestyle images, etc. Most of our A+ clients get their examples here now.

3) Variation pics within search results. SERP has evolved greatly this year. Your main image was always crucial, but now your 2nd and 3rd MUST be quality. Now you need to think about those variation images. Are you consistent? High quality across the board? [Example].

4) Prime Day 2.0. We received a notification this week from Amazon. Say what you will about this but I'm very confident it's going to bring traffic. Particularly with the current economy. Our recommendations will be shared soon.

5) Impossible to outrank legacy products on page 1? TACOS the main KPI now? We stress the importance of TACOS more than ACOS now. The same applies with social ads. Answering the simple question: does spending money grow our business profitably? [Good video from Destaney and Michael].

6) TikTok to Amazon. Paul is consistently sharing strong results, strategies, and guidance on this topic. I don't think it can be ignored now. You must, still, not rely on one traffic channel. [What you need to know]. Reminder of 10% Referral Bonus you'll get.

6) Seller fees up for Q4. Starting Oct.15 to Jan.14 FBA will be 35 cents higher per item. Slowly killing off low-margin sellers one fee and CPC increase at a time. If your margins aren't healthy, I say why bother? [35 cents]. They're up 30% since 2020.

7) Review shake-up. Fuck black hat sellers. Legacy reviews from 1-2 years ago aren't enough now. You need to consistently deliver a great product and new customers must agree. Expect to see top reviews from 2022 and last week, rather than 2019 and heavily upvoted. [Aaron].

8) Framework to write headline copy for your Amazon ads. Images do the heavy lifting with ads but do not get lazy with the copy. [Mansour]. On the copy topic, we saw a 26% increase in CVR recently with an AB test on the title.

9) A+ Premium promotion. Once $250k now free. Said to increase sales by 20%. It looks sensational but you need to jump hoops before you're eligible. [Announcement on Aug.9].

10) Most helpful customer review. Sizing is often difficult to interpret online. This customer review is the perfect example of how it should have been done by the brand. [Lorenzo]. Your CVR will go up and returns down.

11) Stop listing your products on Amazon. You don't need to list every product. Ignore your vendor manager requests. 4-steps to take when deciding what to list -> Martin.

12) Beauty brand nails cross-promotion with defensive sponsored ads. Supported by 100k reviews and Amazon Choice across multiple KWs. You don't need to be Hero Cosmetics to achieve this, you just need to be aware of the value of defensive ads IF you have a suitable range. [Hero].

13) Amazon own brand disgusts me. Referencing other brand names in their bullet points for ranking benefits. [Abby].

14) Massively reduce time hiring Amazon VA's. It's called The Seller Process. Was impressed with their vid.

15) 5 tactics to easily improve your Amazon storefront. [Jason].

16) Don't trust Amazon reps. [Why?].

17) Pharmapacks fucked up. $48m in January, mostly on Amazon, seems fantastic. But their profit was shit. $120m of losses from 2018-2020. This is one of many tales I've heard in the last 6-months of brands dying due to poor margins. [Good thread].

Ever conscious of wasting your day I'll finish there.

I've purposely not talked about Amazon ads as we send a weekly email on that. Read them here.

This style will be sent by me, George, every month from now on. Subscribe.

Thanks,

George
